KEEP ONE LIGHT ON

One house changed my life forever

The Light in the Window

When I was 13 years old, I arrived at a home that changed my life forever.

That home belonged to Peg and Jerry Gorman. Their decision to open their door changed countless lives—including mine.

This is the story of how ordinary people became the light in the window for children who needed hope.

The Light in the Window was never about finding a home.

It was about becoming one.

Some people change the world without ever becoming famous.

Jeremy "Jerry" and Margaret "Peg" Gorman were two of those people.

As a frightened thirteen-year-old orphan, I arrived at 5 Cedar Hill Road searching for a place to belong.

I found something far greater.

I found a family.

I created this website to honor the legacy of Jeremy "Jerry" and Margaret "Peg" Gorman—Mom and Dad to me—and to leave one light on for someone who may need it today.

The Gormans

Ordinary people. Extraordinary compassion.

Peg and Jerry Gorman quietly opened their home to children who needed safety, stability, and hope. Their lives remind us that changing the world often begins by opening a single door.

The House

5 Cedar Hill Road

Behind an ordinary front door was an extraordinary home. For decades, 5 Cedar Hill Road became a place of refuge for children who had nowhere else to go. It wasn't the size of the house that changed lives—it was the people inside it.
